Meet and greet upon arrival in Luang Prabang, formerly capital city of Laos. Today you will enjoy an interesting and helpful cooking class at the Indigo. This place offers a hands-on course to learn how to prepare traditional Lao cuisine. The Natural Cooking Class begins with students picking ingredients from the 27-hectare organic farm and learning about crops and farming methods in Laos. Indigo Farm’s goal is to teach students, tourists and agriculturalists in Lao about the conservation of natural resources and ensuring Luang Prabang is a “Green City.” Prepare foods like marinated pork, Laap, sticky rice and fried mushrooms. Enjoy hearty and healthy food made by you then you will relax for a while before setting off for the cascading waters of Kuang Si Falls Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch and explore a path that runs alongside a wide multi-tiered waterfall tumbling over limestone formations. Cool off with a refreshing swim or walk along the forest trails. Cap off your visit at a wildlife rescue dedicated to protecting and rehabilitating the rare and magnificent Asiatic black bear.
In late afternoon, we will take you to a house owned by a Laotian Shaman for a wonderful and atmospheric event to welcome a blissful New Year. A trip to Luang Prabang could never be complete without a festive celebration, and there are few more joyous moments than being able to take part in a real Baci Ceremony. The ritual will offer prayers for you and your family and loved ones, praying for harmony, peace, good fortune, honesty and warmth. Well wishes and prayers will be showered over you in this delightful ceremony. Return to your hotel for a peaceful night’s sleep this evening.
After pickup from in town or at your hotel we will depart Luang Prabang around 2:00 pm for the village of Xieng Lom. Upon arrival guests are invited to have coffee or tea as your guide for they day gives an in-depth introduction elephant behavior and the ways we as humans should interact with them. Pick up at your hotel. Treat yourself by treating elephants. After arriving we will begin with an introduction into elephant behavior, their connections with humans and how we communicate with one another. We will then have the chance to create our own unique treats for them using various healthy and delicious ingredients. These treats help the elephants to get the most nutrition from the food they have been eating all day. Before heading across the river to the elephants, you will create your own unique flavor and delicious snack to help ensure instant friendship with your soon to be elephant friends. Using rice as a base you will have various fruits, herbs and seasonings to mix together and make an elephant health ball. A quick boat ride across the Nam Khan river will deliver you to the waiting elephants. Your guide will instruct you on how to begin approaching and interacting with them as well as the best way to deliver your handmade treat. Enjoy observing elephants from the river bank as Mahouts wash them in the Nam Khan river. Guests can experience elephants washing, swimming and playing in the water. Transfer back to hotel. Rise early at 05:00 am to observe the solemn morning ritual of monks walking through the streets of Luang Prabang at sunrise to collect alms. "Tak bat" or almsgiving is a must-see experience for travelers to Luang Prabang, home to nearly 80 Buddhist temples. After the opportunity to make your own rice offering to saffron-robed monks, head to a morning market for another glimpse of local life. You will be transferred back to hotel to have breakfast and relax. Return to hotel for breakfast and refreshen. Check-out and airport transfer to fly to Siem Reap. Upon arrival at Siem Reap city, you will be met and welcome by a local tour guide. Enjoy a short drive to the hotel. Checking into your accommodation and you will spend the rest of time relaxing. Your breakfast is followed by a visit to a local market in Siem Reap where your chef will share with you Cambodia’s daily market. Then it’s back to the kitchen to prepare. Experience the real Cambodian culture through living it, do your own shopping of local foods and get the skills in a cooking class in Siem Reap. You will learn ingrediants and cooking techniques and how to cook a typical Cambodian meal. After the cooking is over, guests can relax in the tropical gardens and enjoy their meal. At 15:00, you will enjoy a scenic drive to outskirt to see scenic countryside. Experience remote areas outside of Siem Reap. Along the way you’ll pass through villages, meet friendly locals, and drive along rice fields. Gain a better insight into the rural life of the farmers and their families. Breakfast at hotel and today you will spend a full day guided temple-hopping. First, you will visit the world-famous Angkor complex, built between the 9th and 13th centuries when the Khmer empire was the pre-eminent influence in Southeast Asia. The ruins are large scattering over an massive area of more than 160 square kilometres, but the main cluster of temples is close to Siem Reap so you'll have plenty of time to fully appreciate the great archaeological sites. These include Angkor Wat, Bayon and the jungle-covered Ta Prohm. The intricately carved bas-reliefs and architectural designs are mind-blowing and there are spectacular photographic opportunities at any time of day. In the evening, enjoy your free time to wander around the Pub walking streets where you can find very good Khmer restraurants where you can sample authentic Cambodia dishes. Overnight at hotel.
