Hi Mai Anh, I have arrived back at my home in NZ after having two wonderful days in Halong Bay. Thank you so much for your help in arranging the trip, thank you also for arranging our pick up and drop offs… I did not appreciate how far away Halong Bay was from Hanoi!

We both really enjoyed the experience and the Jasmine and their crew were fantastic!   We met some lovely people and enjoyed our time in Vietnam.  Thank you again!

Best regards

Hi Tommy,

I just wanted to give you a little feedback directly. We're now approaching the middle of our trip and so far it's been spectacular. A good reason why it's been so good is because of the guide you assigned to us: The. The was great with us - not getting in the middle of our photo shoots, assisting us with making the right photos, helping us get into the right angles, getting us to areas away from other tourists and even creating great shots by encouraging people passing by to pose for us. He has a good photographer's eye, an understanding of how light works and overall makes a great Photography Tour guide.  You should definitely use him for photo tours in the future.

Hugh, our current guide in Hue, is great. He takes the time to explain everything to us in good detail and gets us into the sites without any problems.  He doesn't seem to have much knowledge of photography however. But everything is ok.

Please accept our warmest regards,

Alex Stoen and Eric Stoen from New York - USA

Dear Kat,

I am pretty satisfied with quality of services you provided; everything was in time and planned in good manner. The comment I have got refers to descriptiveness and English speaking ability of a guide in Saigon. I had have expected to have it with more advanced level while his helpfulness and attentiveness are above expectations.

Thank you very much for the interesting journey you have tailored for me. It was a real pleasure to visit your country

Kind regards,

Dear Tommy,
Thank you for arranging a wonderful 14 day trip covering North, Central and South Vietnam. You are a fair businessman and we would be happy to recommend others to seek your service to organize tours. Just to give you some feedback on the tour guides - Hai in Hanoi had spent 7 days with us and strikes us as a good person but not cut out to be a guide, having a mind of his own and lazy. Totally inflexible which defeats the purpose for  us or anyone booking a  private tour. To quote you an example, from day 1, we asked to tell or take us to try out local Pho of each area we go to and he couldn't even tell us where to have them in the 7 days. We finally asked him to skip places in the itinerary and we ventured out on our own in Sapa, and in Hanoi guess what, we met an English speaking Vietnamese university student in Hanoi who recommended us the 2 well established  and famous local eateries - a Pho shop and a vegetable soup shop. Unfortunately, it was our last night in Hanoi and we could not eat so much, and tried the wonderful Pho. It was the best Pho we have eaten overseas and Vietnam.

Hahn who looked after us from Hue to Danang, is a stable, very knowledgeable (of the culture history and people of Hue), and helpful guide, we enjoyed the 3 days spent with her.

Ho Chi Ming City, we felt like we have struck gold with our guide Trinh, helpful, hardworking, sincere and we were so glad that we had her to round off our trip. She is a rare gem, with great attitude and I wish she had been sent to guide us in Hanoi.

Best regards

Best of Vietnam in July 2004

Thanks to you we had a wonderful trip in Vietnam.
Everything you had organized was just perfect – the hotels (Sofitel Metropole Hanoi Hotel, Luxury Jasmine Junk in Halong Bay, La Residence Hue, the Nam Hai Resort, Six Senses Ana Mandara, Caravelle Saigon Hotel) were absolutely the top, service everywhere perfect, the sun was shining even in Hanoi – so what else could we have wished.
We changed a few things on the schedule to see more of what we were looking for – all changes went very smoothly. The three guides were very nice and pleasant to be with. Sa was the most competent and spoke the best English. So on the whole we are very pleased wit our trip and your organization of it all. We'll certainly recommend you to everyone we know is going to Vietnam.
It was nice meeting you and thank you once again for the beautiful gifts.

Tommy,

First let us say...thank you very much for everything.  Our trip was fascinating and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know your country.  The execution of our trip was flawless and your planning was excellent. We are VERY glad that we did not change our plans and continued on to see the Mekong and more of Saigon it was one of our most favorite stops.   I'd like to summarize some specific feedback below, none of it is meant to be critical just thought for future trips.

Guides:

All of our guides were wonderful and knowledgeable people.  We loved learning from them and getting to know each of them individually.  As I cannot spell all of their individual names I will give you feedback by the guide in each location and will rank them below.

  • Our favorite guide was in Hue/Hoi An, Phan Van Vinh, he was extremely knowledgeable, easy to understand and very prepared.

  • Hanoi, The, he also spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable and flexible with the few changes we made during our day in Hanoi.

  • Siem Reap, we cannot remember his name, he was also very knowledgeable.

  • Mekong Delta, Nhon was the most difficult to understand, although he spoke very good English his comprehension of the language was not as good as the other guides. He had to be prompted with questions and did not provide quite as much information as the others.  Please understand that we liked him very much just had more difficulty communicating.  Apparently, Mr. An was not available?  As we only spent 1/2 day with Mr. An in Saigon at the very beginning of the trip we really can't remember him very well in order to comment.

Itinerary:

We are very glad we got to see as many places as we did.  However, the moving around so much was tiring.  I would have liked to have had one more day in Hanoi to walk around on our own.  I didn't know it was going to be the rainy season in the central region as I might have tried to spend less time there (we had 4 nights and it rained the entire time).  I know you cannot control the weather.  We really would not have wanted to miss anything we saw so I'm not sure how I would have changed the itinerary.

Hotels:

  • Majestic:  Lovely, great location, Riverview suite great....a little noisy as it is on the street.  Breakfast great.

  • Raffles Siem Reap:  Great, room lovely, pool great.  Fancy restaurant overpriced and not worth it.  Better restaurants in town. Breakfast great.

  • Metropole:  Wonderful, our favorite hotel, wish we had more time there.  Opera suite was beautiful and over looked the interior courtyard.

  • Pilgrimage Village:  Lovely, room great.  Didn't really get to enjoy the pool or grounds as it rained the entire time we were there. Good breakfast.

  • Valentine Junk:  Suite was great.  Food was good.  There was only one other couple on the boat with us so it was really nice.  Rained so not quite as pretty as it could have been.

  • Riverside hotel Hoi An:  Not good.  I know you suggested that we should stay somewhere else and you were right.  Room was okay but ceiling leaked and it was dark.  It was raining the entire time we were in Hoi An so that also added our dislike of the hotel.  Life Resort would have been better and I think it still would have been walking distance from town.  The reason I chose this hotel is so we could be close to town.   Breakfast was poor.

  • La Veranda:  Lovely hotel, great setting, room was great beachfront.  Food at this hotel was good, service was excellent.  Not much on the island but very relaxing.
Victoria Can Tho:  Our room was huge and very nice.  Great location, took boat into town.  Breakfast great.

Restaurants:

  • Christmas eve dinner at Metropole:  Lovely atmosphere.  Food good but overpriced.  Very special for Christmas

  • Restaurants recommended by hotel in Siem Reap was our favorite, the name of the restaurant is Viroth's.

  • Dinners in Saigon both were great.

  • Dinner at Victoria Can Tho was fine

All lunches provided by the guides were good, especially the one in Hoi An which was one of our favorites.  Also the lunch we had in Hanoi (Pho 24) and the Mekong were especially good.

Overall, our trip was fascinating and we loved it.  You were a pleasure to work with and all of the guides were wonderful, helpful and made our trip as easy as possible.  We really didn't have to worry about a thing.  I would be very happy to act as a reference if you ever need one and we will be sure to drop you a line if we plan another trip to Southeast Asia.

Thanks again for all your help.  Happy New Year!
